An opportunity to lead in California
California State Senator Leland Yee, one of the main architects of the unconstitutional attacks on computer and video games, is receiving the First Amendment Coalition's Beacon Award for legislation supporting government transparency and journalists' rights.
Yee is the main sponsor of California's unconstitutional video game law that is currently before the U.S. Supreme Court and he continuously pushes to restrict gamers' rights and the creative freedoms of video game developers.
One wonders: if Senator Yee is receiving an award for supporting the First Amendment, why doesn't he support it for computer and video games and gamers?
The Video Game Voters Network is launching a letter campaign to Senator Yee, congratulating him for receiving this award, but also urging him to carry that First Amendment vigilance to our passion and stop attacking gamers and video games.
Without advocates in government fighting for gamers like us, we're all at risk of losing our rights and freedoms.
As Senator Yee accepts this award, it's crucial that he remember the free-speech fight isn't over.
Our opponents, like Senator Yee, are working harder than ever to restrict the First Amendment rights of gamers.
We need you to stand with us before it's too late.
