The fight in NY has moved to the Senate - Please write your State Senator below. NY State Senator, Andrew Lanza, is renewing his unfair assault against video games by moving a bill now through the Senate, S 6401 A.

Senator Lanza would like to waste our hard earned tax dollars on investigating video games when the facts are already in. We have much higher priorities for our resources and dollars than this kind of crusade.

I am writing to express my concern and opposition to Senator Lanza's renewed efforts to regulate the video game industry with bill S 6401a. As a New York voter and an avid gamer, I feel that the video game industry's self-regulatory system is working very effectively.  In addition to parents knowing about and using the ESRB rating system to help guide their game purchases, existing parental controls in game consoles give parents the ultimate tool to control what their kids play at home.  The Federal Trade Commission recently reported kids are blocked from trying to purchase an M-rated game 80% of the time!

As a gamer and a voter, I would much rather see you making an effort to further encourage parents to understand and use the ESRB rating system than to see you waste our tax dollars, especially at a time when we are facing a major state budget deficit.

As a taxpayer, I'm upset at the waste of resources and dollars this kind of investigation and mandates will require. Our state faces much more critical issues we should be focused on.
